BLM STATEMENT
statement from the
school of management council
July 24th, 2020
We, the School of Management Council of the Krannert School of Management, support the Black Lives Matter movement and the initiatives taking place to address the problems within Krannert, Purdue, and our country as a whole. We are disheartened by the racially charged crimes that have taken place over the past few months and would like to take time to recognize the mistreatment that many people of color face daily in the United States.
There is a need to identify the systemic racial injustice within our country that has impacted our minority communities and take time to understand how every student can be a part of the necessary change to create a more united community. No student should face ostracized treatment due to their race, ethnicity, gender, or ability. SMC is working to become a stronger ally to our Krannert and Purdue Organizations than before.
SMC would like to encourage students to take time out of their day to educate themselves and their friends and family on the importance of this movement. It is important to participate in conversations, listen to others, and be okay with being uncomfortable because that is how we grow.
As SMC moves forward in the coming semester and year, we pledge to support our students by (1) raising awareness of petitions and crowd change sites that support the black community, (2) being an ally for Purdue organizations in their educational events, and (3) listening to our students to build a strong boilermaker family.
Our information, resources, and actions in our continuous efforts to support the black community within Krannert and Purdue will be shared on our council website and social media accounts listed below.
Thank you for your time. Together we will work to move forward.

Sincerely,
The Krannert School of Management Council
